Every dog, regardless of age, owned or harbored in New York State for longer than 30 days must be licensed in the town, city or village where the dog is being harbored? The only license exceptions are the following:

bulletIf the dog is under 4 months of age and not running-at-large.
bulletIf a non-resident brings a dog into New York State for less than 30 days and the dog is registered in the state where the dog is harbored.
bulletIf a dog is confined to the premises of any hospital or institute with a certificate of exemption.

 

How to license your dog in the Town of Ballston :

bulletApply for the dog license at the Town Clerk’s Office.
bulletBring the current rabies vaccination certificate ( rabies vaccination must be in effect for at least one full month after the issued date of license), or an annual letter of rabies exemption from your veterinarian, and a spayed or neutered certificate, if applicable. Pay the dog license fee: $3.50 for spayed or neutered dogs and $11.50 for "intact" dogs. For guide dogs, war dogs, hearing dogs, police work dogs, service dogs, therapy dogs or detection dogs satisfactory proof is required, such as a training certificate for a fee exempt license.

Requirements for a Marriage License:

A couple who intends to be married in New York State must apply in person for a marriage license to any town or city clerk in the state.

bullet

The application for a license must be signed both by the bride and groom in the presence of the clerk.

bullet

Proof of age: Birth Certificate, Baptismal record, Naturalization record, Passport. If younger than 18, parents consent is required.

bullet

Proof of identification: Passport, Driver's License, Employment picture ID, Immigration record

bullet

Final divorce decree of all divorces and/or copy of death certificates, if applicable.

bullet

Marriage License must be obtained at least 24 hrs in advance of ceremony.

bullet

Marriage License is valid for 60 days, beginning the day after it is issued.

bullet

Marriage License is $35 payable by cash or checks. Credit cards are not accepted.

 

Requirements for Certificates of Residency:

bullet

Student must be a resident of the Town of Ballston for at least a year.

bullet

Document dated at least one year ago, showing name and current Town of Ballston address.

bullet

Document dated within the last 30 days, showing name and current Town of Ballston address.

       Students who are in High School and students who have lived in the Town of Ballston for less than a year need to go to the Saratoga County Treasurer's Office ( phone # - 884-4724). Foreign born students must obtain their certificate at the Saratoga County Treasurer's Office ( phone # - 884-4724) and bring their naturalization papers with them.

       The issuing dates for Certificates of Residency for the Fall 2008 semester for the following community colleges are:

HVCC - 06/27/08 - 08/22/08

SCCC - 07/05/08 - 08/29/08

ACC  - 07/05/08 - 09/02/08

FMCC - 07/06/08 - 09/03/08

Requirements for Handicapped Parking Permits:

Applicants must be resident of the Town of Ballston.

bullet

The applicant's physician must complete NYS Form MV664.1. Requests on physician's letterhead will also be accepted.

bullet

Applicant should bring their driver's license or non-driver I.D.

bullet

Permits for Permanent Disability are issued for 5 years. Applicant must return to the issuing clerk for a replacement tag; a physician form or letter is not needed for a replacement tag.

bullet

Permits for Temporary Disability are issued for up to 6months. This permit can only be extended with a letter from the physician or completed NYS Form MV664.1.

There is no charge for the Handicapped Parking Permits.

 

WILLIAM E. SEWELL COMMUNITY ROOM RESERVATIONS:

bullet

The Town of Ballston William Sewell Community Room is available to Town Residents for use for meetings, social activities and educational activities. The Community Room is available for Town based not-for-profit groups, Town based community groups and Town businesses. The Town reserves the right to refuse any event which does not comply with the rules of the Community Room Policy and which it deems inappropriate. COMMUNITY ROOM POLICY , COMMUNITY ROOM REQUEST
